I was listening to a 1980s playlist on my phone recently, and “A Little Good News” by Anne Murray began to play. The song was published in 1983—over forty years ago—but the lyrics struck a chord that felt incredibly relevant to where we are today. The verses describe a world full of trouble and heavy headlines. But the chorus offers a simple, universal plea that cuts through it all: “We sure could use a little good news today. Just let me hear you say, Everything's gonna be okay.” In 1983, people felt overwhelmed by the negativity in the papers. Today, that noise is constant. It follows us in our pockets and demands our attention 24/7. It can be difficult to disconnect from the world's problems and focus on the simple act of living. That is why I went back to this photo. It captures the exact opposite of a "breaking news" alert. There are no scrolling tickers here—just the quiet strength of the trees and the patches of lingering snow on the shoulder. It serves as a reminder that seasons change and storms eventually pass. Even when the world feels cold or chaotic, the road ahead remains clear." Looking at it offers a visual break—a space where the eyes can rest and the mind can slow down. It proves that the world outside our screens is still vast, peaceful, and enduring. We cannot control the global narrative, but we can control what we let into our day. We can choose to tune out the broadcast and tune into the journey right in front of us. Everything’s gonna be okay—sometimes we just need to shut out the noise long enough to believe it. Listen to the song here: A Little Good News - Anne Murray
