Several years ago, I took this photo while walking through Kathryn Albertson Park in Boise, Idaho. These Wood Ducks caught my attention with their bold colors and calm presence as they moved across the water.

There’s something about a quiet moment with a cup of coffee that puts life into perspective. This photo was taken on the second day of my 3 ½ month bike ride across America, at a small bed and breakfast in Nimrod, Oregon. By that point, the long hours in the saddle had already caught up with me—I was tired, my legs were sore, and I wondered what the weeks ahead might hold.
Sometimes the most powerful shifts in life don’t come from monumental events or years of planning—they come from a single thought. One idea, one realization, one decision can set in motion a change that alters the entire course of our lives.
Every curve in the road has its own story. Some challenge us. Others surprise us. But each one plays a role in moving us forward—stretching us, shaping us, and reminding us that the journey is just as important as the destination.
