Change the frequency

Lately, the news feels nonstop. I've been making a point to be more selective about what I pay attention to. Taking breaks from the constant updates is something I'm choosing to do more regularly now.

Instead of the headlines, I put on a playlist of songs I grew up with—mostly 70s tracks.

A Different Rhythm
While listening to music, I found a photo from a recent family visit in Washington State. In it, some birds are sitting on a pier. Seeing it made me think about how things can feel more balanced when I step away from the constant noise.

Listening to these tracks isn't just about nostalgia. Each song brings back a specific time, a place, and the faces of friends from years ago. There is a real power in the work of the artists who are no longer with us; they left behind a "spark" that still carries weight today.

Tuning Out the Static
You can’t control what’s happening in the world, but you can control the soundtrack of your own day.
If you're feeling overwhelmed this Monday, my advice is practical:

1. Turn off the notifications.
2. Pull up a photo gallery.
3. Put on the music that shaped you.

It isn't about escaping reality; it’s about choosing a better one for a while. Clearing the mental clutter makes room for what actually matters.
