Everyday Love: What Our Pets Teach Us About Life

This is Ace.
He was in my life since he was just a puppy—and from day one, he brought so much joy to my world. Always close by, always watching with those gentle eyes, always making life better just by being there.

This photo was taken in a friend’s home in New Mexico, where Ace was doing what he did best—being part of the moment (dare I say, stealing the moment). Lying peacefully on the tile floor next to a jar of Los Cuates salsa, Ace always reminds me of the simple, everyday magic pets bring into our lives. No big gestures, just love, loyalty, and calm companionship.

Ace passed away on July 21, 2022. It’s a day I’ll never forget. And while I miss him more than words can say, I’m forever grateful for the years we had together—from puppyhood to this quiet, soulful moment.

Pets like Ace remind us what unconditional love looks like. They ground us. Heal us. They ask for so little and give us so much. The joy they bring isn’t loud—it’s steady, constant, and lasting.
