The River You Can't See

Sometimes, the most profound landscapes are the ones that don't shout.

I took this photo on the way to Swan Falls in Idaho. At first glance, it looks like a quiet stretch of high desert—just sagebrush, rolling hills, and the Owyhee Mountains sitting quietly in the back.

​But something massive is missing from the picture.

Just on the other side of that brush, hidden in the deep canyon below, flows the Snake River. It is a powerful, carving force of nature, yet from where I was standing, you wouldn't even know it exists.

It is raw, unpretentious, and completely open. A perfect reminder that "profound wisdom is often hiding in plain sight."

We often judge our lives by the surface-level "brush." We see the dry, ordinary days and assume that is all there is. We forget that just below the surface—often right next to us—there is a deep current of purpose and potential moving things forward.

You don't always have to see the river to know it's flowing. You just have to trust that the landscape holds more than what meets the eye.
