Turn the Key

I keep this question front and center. It helps me to live deliberately and prioritize what matters rather than put off meaningful actions.

​I frequently ride my bike along the Boise Greenbelt near Eagle, Idaho, and this mural is a constant checkpoint for my mindset. Intentionality is the magnifying glass used to examine daily choices and stay on track. Without that focus, it’s easy to just go through the motions.

The Eagles captured the struggle well in their song Already Gone: “So often times it happens, that we live our lives in chains and we never even know we have the key.”
We have the power to change, but we stay stuck by habit.

I pause daily to identify what matters most and take one small step in that direction. If you’re on the fence about a decision, this is the sign to go for it. The key is in your hand. Turn it.
