Could you get by without your car? There are of course many variables to this question such as, where you live, public transportation availability, children living at home, commuting to work and many other factors.
With the price of gas now $4.00 a gallon in my area and even higher in others, people are looking for new ways to get around their towns, cities and communities. The rise and popularity of e-bikes is a great example of this. According to ebicycles.com, between 2020 and 2023, sales of e-bikes is forecasted to reach 130 million worldwide.
While I don't own an electric bike, I have recently made the decision to sell my truck and use my bicycle as my primary form of transportation. In this episode, I share why I made this decision and why I'm so excited about it!
The bike I'll be using for going car-free, is the REI Co-Op CTY 1.1.
It is a great bike for commuting around town and with the rear rack, I can easily attach the Ortlieb panniers I used on my cross country ride to carry groceries and other items.
