How often do you take a moment to pause and truly reflect on the people and blessings in your life? Music has always been a powerful companion for me—whether it’s Christian, country, or hard rock. Lately, I’ve found myself listening more, not just to escape the depressing news, but to shift my mindset into a better, more creative space. That’s the spirit I want to share with you in this article: an invitation to slow down, appreciate meaningful moments, and recognize the gifts that surround us.

The Light That Stays
I still carry the experiences of my 2017 solo bicycle journey with a surprising amount of detail and clarity. I don’t usually dive into the spiritual side of my travels, but lately I’ve felt a pull to share the journey's deeper layers. Looking back, the physical miles were just a backdrop for a much more significant internal experience. There are moments on the road that carry a weight you just can’t measure with gears or pavement alone. I’m sharing this now because we all face seasons where the path ahead feels uncertain, and it feels right to talk about the light that eventually breaks through. I was listening to a 1980s playlist on my phone recently, and “A Little Good News” by Anne Murray began to play. The song was published in 1983—over forty years ago—but the lyrics struck a chord that felt incredibly relevant to where we are today.
"Simply Living Life."
If you’ve followed my journey for a while, you know this isn’t just a tagline I slap on a website header. It is the filter through which I view the world. It is the choice I make every morning when I wake up in my RV, and it is the philosophy that guides me as I navigate a world that seems determined to get faster, louder, and more complicated. Over the years, I’ve shared pieces of this puzzle. Today, I want to bring those pieces together to share what I’ve really learned about the art of living simply. As we hit December, the noise tends to get louder. The commercials are brighter, the calendars are fuller, and there is this collective pressure to "crush" the remaining weeks of 2025.
But if you are here, reading this, you probably crave something different. My focus has always been on Simply Living Life. Embracing less clutter, physically and mentally. While this post is a bit different from my usual topics, I feel it’s important because digital privacy is a foundational element of intentional living.
Living small taught me that less tech can mean more freedom. I’ve spent decades working in technology. I love what it can do — how it connects us, simplifies tasks, and opens doors we never imagined. But sometimes, stepping back from certain technologies can add more value than piling on the latest and greatest.
Washington State is making strides in promoting sustainable transportation through its new E-Bike Rebate Program. Designed to encourage more residents to choose environmentally friendly ways to commute, the program provides financial incentives for purchasing electric bicycles (e-bikes). This initiative aligns with the state’s broader goals of reducing carbon emissions, decreasing traffic congestion, and improving accessibility for all.
Today (November 13th) marks one year since I lost my dear lifelong friend, Rand. His laughter, kindness, and unwavering support profoundly impacted my life. Though time may pass, the memories we created together remain etched in my heart, reminding me every day of the beautiful person he was.
